Second public hearing regarding potential district-based elections set for Nov. 28
The City Council on Tuesday, November 28 will host the second of five public hearings to discuss the City's interest in and the process for transitioning from at-large to district-based council member elections.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m., with the hearing starting sometime thereafter, in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
The hearings are prompted by a demand letter the City of Mission Viejo received from a Malibu-based law firm claiming the City’s at-large election system dilutes the vote of the Latino community. During the Nov. 28 public hearing, residents will have the chance to weigh in on the composition of the districts and provide input regarding the content of draft maps and the proposed sequence of elections.
Council meetings are streamed live at https://cityofmissionviejo.org/stream and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T Channel 99.
