diving

Make a splash and kick off Water Safety Month at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex on May 1 at 27474 Casta Del Sol.

The community event is from noon to 4 pm with the first hour designated to the City’s SNAP (Special Needs Adaptive Programming) initiative. SNAP is designed to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to partake in adaptive programs and experience the mental, physical, emotional and social aspects of sports and recreation. SNAP participants will enjoy modified activities, fun sensory activities, and water play.

In addition, families will enjoy recreational swim activities, an inflatable obstacle course, rubber ducky race, water-safety scavenger hunt for kids, balloon maker, face painting, diving demonstration at 2 pm and a light snack bar.

The event will also boast water safety and drowning prevention information as well as details about swim lessons and more. Participants must pass a 25-yard unaided swim test upon arrival. For safety reasons, no artificial floatation aids may be used in the pools.

The Nadadores Foundation and City are committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation in services, programs, and employment. To request accommodation, contact event organizers at 949-380-2552.

Hello,

I have a 30 year old autistic son who loves to swim. We swim regularly at Montanoso and Sierra. He really enjoys jumping off the low diving board, but not many pools have them. Is there an age limit on SNAP participants? What activities will be available?

Thank you for your comment on the News page. There is no age limitation for Splash into Summer participants. The SNAP portion of the program from 12 to 1 pm is intended to be a quieter and less busy portion of the event, as the DJ music will not begin until 1 pm. The low diving boards will be open, and pool noodles and lily pads will be available, as well as activity booths. We’ll be happy to see you there.
