Student artwork reflects works of past masters

student artwork

The next time you’re at the Mission Viejo Library, check out the amazing art exhibit on display by some talented young artists.

The artwork is by students of Capistrano Valley High School teacher Kent Baker.  These artists have been sharpening their skills and learning about art history by recreating works of past masters. To go beyond making mere copies, however, these advanced drawing/painting students recently created original, digital compositions made up of a portrait, signature and painting excerpt of a select group of famous—albeit slightly under the radar—artists. The students then gridded and enlarged their digital compositions to create poster-sized, hand-painted banners.

Their work is on display in the library gallery at 100 Civic Center through April 24.
