Three new art exhibits on display at Mission Viejo facilities this summer
At the Norman P. Murray Community Center you can view artwork by Impressionist painter Susan Gordinier. Perfectly suited for summertime, her exhibit of oil paintings features coastal scenery and carefree summer fun. A member the California Art Club and Laguna Plein Air Painters, Gordinier's inspiration comes from life in Laguna Beach, travel with her husband, and her nine grandchildren.
"The Art of Chess" is on display in the north wing of the Mission Viejo Library, with highlights from the extensive chess collection of Robert Breton - longtime Mission Viejo resident and current chairperson of the City’s Cultural Arts Committee. This exhibit showcases the beauty and creativity of chess sets as functional works of art, with boards and pieces that exemplify a wide range of styles, from intricate antique carvings to Super Mario Bros.
In the library's south wing, don’t miss bold and vibrant acrylic paintings by Vickie Green. Her work focuses on nature and reveals her ability to achieve harmony through light, shadow and color values. She has exhibited at the Orange County Museum of Art, the Orange County Fair, and Mission Viejo’s Parkway Gallery.
These exhibits are available through late August.
The Norman P. Murray Community Center is located at 24932 Veterans Way and the Mission Viejo Library is located at 100 Civic Center.
