Travis Krudwig is Mission Viejo's Deputy of the Year
Deputy Travis Krudwig, a 10-year Sheriff’s Department veteran, has been named 2017 Mission Viejo Deputy of the Year.
This devoted deputy is respected by his peers and supervisors alike, who overwhelmingly selected him for the award.
Assigned to the City of Mission Viejo for the last four years, Deputy Krudwig started here as a patrol deputy, but his professionalism, leadership and experience have led to more assignments and responsibilities. He served as a Field Training Officer and currently works as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for Trabuco Hills High School, Oxford Academy and Del Lago, Glen Yermo and Montevideo Elementary schools.
Along with outstanding crime-fighting skills, Deputy Krudwig is a true leader among his peers. Other deputies – regardless of their years on the job – regularly approach him for advice. He’s always friendly, humorous and helpful and won’t hesitate to tap his peers for support as well.
Deputy Krudwig places a lot of emphasis on giving back. In fact, he founded and organizes the annual “Lacy Gives Back†charity golf tournament, which raises money for Operation Santa Claus. He is also a mentor and advisor for the Sheriff’s Explorer program, guiding young folks considering careers in law enforcement.
Throughout his career, Deputy Krudwig has been known for his ability to make a difference in the lives of others. In 2016, he received the Sheriff’s Department Medal of Lifesaving award for stopping a suicidal young man from jumping off a building.
“It is deputies like Travis who make the City of Mission Viejo one of the safest and greatest cities in America,†said Lt. Ken Binning.
