Volunteer effort on Saturday meant to show the love for Mission Viejo
A nonprofit organization is hosting a special event on October 12 that is designed to benefit City programs and services as well as help beautify public spaces and parks.
The inaugural “Love Mission Viejo” Citywide Serve Day on October 12 invites residents to volunteer for a range of projects across the community from 9 am to noon. The day begins with an 8 am rally at Newhart Middle School before volunteers embark on different projects that include things like planting along the Oso Creek Trail and creating care packages for Mission Viejo’s senior program and the City’s active military.
Other projects benefiting the City include creating hygiene kits for folks in need, drug disposal kits and contributing to the beautification of Florence Joyner Olympiad Park.
The City of Mission Viejo is not a host or sponsor of this volunteer-driven event but is supporting community partners such as Mission Viejo Police Services and the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce to help to spread the word.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to come together and show their love for our City through meaningful volunteer work,” said Mark Nix, Mission Viejo Director of Recreation & Community Services.
