Watch 'Field of Dreams' with the Community of Character
Join the Community of Character on Sunday, February 17 to see the classic baseball film "Field of Dreams" beginning at 2 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
The movie follows a farmer who hears a strange voice one night in his cornfield saying, "If you build it, he will come." He then feels compelled to do something, and despite people calling him crazy, he decides to build a baseball diamond within his cornfield. After the baseball field is built, ghosts of old baseball players come to play ball on the field, celebrating everything they once had and teaching lessons about team and family unity. The film was selected for preservation in the United States Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant."
The free screening takes place at 200 Civic Center. After the film, the youth committee will lead a discussion on this month's character trait of unity and how it was demonstrated in the film.
