lauren kate and abbi waxman

Bestselling authors Abbi Waxman and Lauren Kate will discuss their latest novels at 2 pm on Saturday, June 25 in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

In Waxman’s novel “Adult Assembly Required,” New York native Laura Costello never expected a big move to Los Angeles would find her facing homelessness. What started out one week ago as a shiny new adventure and a fresh start turned into a nightmare. She’s running from a breakup and overbearing family back on the East Coast, and she is hoping to leave a traumatic accident in the dust. Laura quickly learns that this whole “adulting” thing is hard, no matter where you are.

In Kate’s novel “By Any Other Name,” Laine enjoys a successful career as a romance editor and an engagement to a man who checks off all 99 boxes on her carefully curated list. Then she’s given the opportunity of a lifetime: to work with world-renowned author and her biggest inspiration in love and life — Noa Callaway. All Lanie must do is cure Noa's writer's block, and she'll get the promotion she's always dreamed of. Simple, right?
