Youth sporting practices resume next week

Youth sports like soccer, softball and baseball practices are slowly returning to City fields beginning August 31 – in line with the California Department of Public Health’s new guidance for youth sports to return to play.  

Consistent with the California Interscholastic Federation, the guidance covers all youth sports programs including school-based, club, and recreational programs to support a safe environment for players, coaches, trainers, families, spectators, workers, and volunteers.  Right now, only conditioning and training focusing on individual skill-building is allowed, Tournaments, scrimmages and games are not permitted. 

Sports organizations are required to submit return-to-play COVID-19 protocols before obtaining a permit. For more information regarding fall youth sports, visit the following organizations’ websites:
