The Mission Viejo Library is hosting a series of space programs. On Saturday, July 31, the library will present a Virtual Planet Party from 4 to 5 pm. The fun will include a live view from telescopes in the Canary Islands. To register for this program, email libraryprograms@cityofmissionviejo.org.

The "Give Me Space" project encompasses a variety of educational fun for all ages.

Since the beginning of the year, the library has added more than 100 new titles about space to the collection. Staff also created STEM activity kits that are available for checkout. The kits include binoculars and telescopes so you can explore the stars from home.

In March, community members submitted their photos of the moon. All participating photographers received high-quality prints of their images.

In May, the library hosted a fun-filled virtual program. Watch the STEM demonstration on how to make an ultraviolet light detector.

Reference Librarian Sandy Brimer is the visionary behind this project. When asked what inspired her to pursue this opportunity, she replied, "applying for the "Give Me Space!" grant presented a great opportunity to work with a beloved local STEM resource - Science Heads. We're able to offer free programs and resources for patrons of all ages with the goal of enticing their curiosity and discovery of new things."

The "Give Me Space!" project is supported in whole or part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
