What do you think about local public transportation?

MV shuttle

In an effort to enhance local public transportation, the City of Mission Viejo is inviting residents, stakeholders and businesses to take part in two community workshops in July.

The workshops will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 7 and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

The community workshops will focus on enhancing the Mission Viejo Shuttle. The City launched the MV Shuttle last October to provide transportation services in parts of the City that used to be served by the Orange County Transportation Authority. The current route connects the Norman P. Murray Community Center with the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink Station.

To assess the performance of the MV Shuttle and explore demand for more services or destinations, the City launched a local circulator study earlier this year.  The effort has entailed a host of community outreach activities such as surveying MV Shuttle and Metrolink riders, community members, stakeholders and local employers.

During the two upcoming workshops, participants will obtain more information about the study along with feedback obtained so far and preliminary service recommendations.  The public will have the chance to provide input to enhance future development of the MV Shuttle program.  Light refreshments will be served.

I like the new buses for Mission Viejo residents. I believe it is a valuable resource for those that cannot drive including students that would otherwise have to walk quite a distance to public transportation.
