Metrolink suspends rail service in south Orange County to complete needed track work
As the City reported, Metrolink announced Wednesday that it is suspending rail service to the San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Oceanside stations starting today, September 16 for emergency track work to stabilize the right-of-way in the San Clemente area and ensure the safety of its operations. The suspended service will affect trains on the Orange County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines.
Metrolink's goal is to resume service by Monday, October 4. If the work is completed earlier than expected, Metrolink service will also resume, which will quickly be communicated to passengers, according to a press release.
During the work period, Metrolink trains will operate as far south as the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Station. According to Metrolink, there will be no alternate bus service to connect to the San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente or Oceanside stations.
