Comments
I would like to present…
I would like to present comments compiled by members of the Board and players of the Oso Creek men's golf club that address in part planned changes to the city and specifically Oso Creek Golf course.
Your city modernization plans are applauded, welcomed and long overdue.
They serve as an extension of your efforts in modernizing the Tennis Center, Swim Center, welcoming of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course ,maintenance of Montanoso Ave Recreation center and the anticipated modernization of the YMCA.
Moves that increase the attractiveness of each facility, and attract new businesses and home buyers to Mission Viejo.
Our concerns are with the plans to reduce the playability and attractiveness of the Oso Creek Golf Course
It is our sincere hope that the council will proceed with the motion offered by Councilman Sachs in the meeting of November 16 to not change the golf course or it's surrounding grounds without employing a Professional Golf Course Architect to recommend changes consistent with the other sports venues i have mentioned
Has that motion been agreed to and or put in motion??
We question why the Norman P. Murray center has been ignored as a viable ,cost effective alternative to the addition of an Event Center at the Golf Course
As a group we have accumulated a number of suggestions to improve the playability and attractiveness of the course ;
Redesign 8 holes that would add 3-4 more strokes to par rather than take three strokes away
Install a flus toilet or toilets at strategic places on the course
Re establish a mid round fast food stand .
Presently it is awkward to get to the sandwich counter while facing in coming players, starter employees and carts being ready There are several courses in the area that operate with 4-6 carts at the ready rather than the parade from the starter area and along the 10th tee and fairway .Not really an attractive sight as well as creating an injury hazard from stray tee shots for the employees staging the carts
The new patio is a welcome improvement but only serves pre and post round activity while adding to the congestion created by incoming new players and those who have finished and exiting the course
Hopefully there will the future opportunity to present our concerns and offer additional improvement suggestions.
These comments are not meant to be critical but are presented to demonstrate our enthusiasm and support that will lead to a modernized Golf Course
Presently our concerns are lead by the need to strongly consider the Murray Center as an Event Center location and the employment of a Golf Architect to modernize the layout of the course
Sincerely
Ed Tutton
