Council's meeting focused on district-based election maps, addressing unanswered questions from developer's scoping meeting
The Center for Demographic Research gave a presentation during Tuesday's City Council meeting regarding draft district-based election maps that were designed by members of the public.
The City has long sought the public's help in mapping out what a district-based election would look like. Additional public hearings and presentations by the Center for Demographic Research will take place at the City Council's February 8 and 22 meetings.
In other Council news, Mayor Wendy Bucknum and City Manager Dennis Wilberg touched on a sober living forum as well as unanswered questions stemming from the January 24 Public Scoping Meeting hosted by developer ValueRock Realty regarding its proposed Garden Plaza project. See their discussion at this link.
The City Council regularly meets at 6 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live and also air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Can someone please tell me…
Can someone please tell me why there are electrically wires draped across LaPaz and Veterans Way. It has been that way for months and it looks terrible. There were electrical wires on Arbotilos, not sure if the wires are still there.
Is someone going to remove them?
Thank you
Hi, thank you for an…
Hi, thank you for an opportunity to share. Our concern in our neighborhood on Chrisanta Drive/Via Viento is the noise decimal!
We all have lived here for over 10 years. Myself 27 years., as a single mom, only by God's grace and provision, Also the programs available for affordable childcare while I worked and determined to keep a roof over their head and a place to call home!
The noise is unbearable. We cannot open windows, regardless of the time of day, there is extreme noise! We want to landscape but don't know if we should invest due to the noise level. We do not invite anyone to join us on the outside of our home due to the noise level. When we sit on our porch it
is still extremely noisy! When I walk I can hear it on our entire street.
The city planner has informed us that a wall will be placed to the right of us but not on our side due to one neighbor to the right of us does not want the wall. How does she decide our fate. I am heartbroken and so are the neighbors to the right and left of us. Please help so we can stay in the neighborhood my children grew up in. The neighbors are willing to step
up ! The City planner has been amazing, but it is not enough for a wall for us! I have reached out also and no answer. PLEASE HELP, WHAT CAN THE CITY DO TO HELP US. Denise Burkett and Chrisanta Neighborhood.

Thank you for your comment. As to the overhead wiring at La Paz and Veterans Way, the wiring was installed as a result of damaged underground conduit, which in part damaged the signal conductors. As a temporary solution, the City installed overhead wiring to keep the signal operational. During this City Council Meeting, the Council approved the item to repair the damaged conduit and reinstall the underground conductors, and you may read the report through the following link https://bit.ly/3o69M5q). Public Works anticipates the work to begin as soon as possible.
