Drake needs a home with a lot of love and attention

drake

Drake is a handsome 6-year-old American Bulldog that was turned in as a stray in late December. Typical of his breed, Drake is confident, social, and affectionate. American bulldogs generally bond strongly with their owners and crave attention, which is why the perfect home for Drake would be with someone who is home a lot, would take him on a couple of walks a day, and would love to hang out on the couch with Drake for the rest of the day.

This breed has a long and storied history of being one of the few breeds that America can claim as their own. Descended from English bulldogs, this breed was extremely popular with immigrants who brought their working dogs with them to the South. Small farmers and ranchers used American bulldogs as protection for their land and families while they were away. Another reason for the popularity of this breed in the Southern part of our country was the presence of feral pigs in that region that were introduced through migration and had no natural predators. The settlers used the bulldogs as the only means of reducing the pig population. These days, dogs like Drake have become more of a family dog than a working canine, and Drake would certainly rather rest on a comfy bed than chase pigs.

Since Drake is one of our longest residents, his adoption fee sponsored by DAWG is only $20 for an approved applicant. For more information, visit cmvas.org or call 949-470-3045.
