Affordable Connectivity Program meant to ensure low-income families stay connected

To help families struggling to afford internet service during the ongoing pandemic, the Federal Communications Commission rolled out a new long-term Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).

The Affordable Connectivity Program replaces the temporary Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB Program) to help low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices. The program, which will provide eligible households with discounts on monthly internet service from participating broadband providers, is meant to ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.

Eligible households can receive a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service as well as a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet from participating providers (if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price).

Mission Viejo service providers Cox Communications and AT&T are both participating in the program.
