Inner-Coastal Watershed Clean-Up Day & free Composting Workshop on tap Sept. 16
If you have a passion for the environment and a penchant for giving back, consider volunteering during our annual Inner-Coastal Watershed Clean-Up Day on Saturday, September 16.
The event is from 8 a.m. to noon, with registration at the Oso Creek Trail near the Potocki Center’s lower parking lot at 27301 La Paz Road. Held annually in conjunction with Coastal Clean-Up Day, this event is one of California’s biggest volunteer efforts. Last year in Mission Viejo alone, dedicated volunteers collected about 300 pounds of trash.
Along with caring for our environment, you can learn how to turn your yard and food waste into organic fertilizer during a free compost workshop. The City and Waste Management will host the workshop at 10 a.m. at the Oso Creek Trail near the Potocki Center’s lower parking lot. The workshop will also focus on vermi-composting (worm composting). Compost and vermi-composting containers will be available for Mission Viejo residents for purchase or order. Discounted bins will be provided to residents who register and attend the workshop.
Registration is limited and required for the workshop. To register today, contact 949-470-3010 or greenmv@cityofmissionviejo.org. You can volunteer for the clean-up event by contacting Denise Matson at dmatson@cityofmissionviejo.org or 949-470-3010.
