Here’s what you should know about sidewalk food vendors
The number of sidewalk food vendors popping up in Mission Viejo – and cities across the State – continues to grow; however, cities like Mission Viejo are limited by how they can regulate them.
California Senate Bill 946 (Sidewalk Vendors) allows vendors to sell merchandise on public sidewalks as long as they do not violate the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The law does not require them to have a permit from the City and prohibits cities from enforcing criminal penalties.
Per the Americans with Disabilities Act, vendors must provide at least four feet of sidewalk clearance. Vendors are prohibited from setting up booths on a curb ramp or at the top of a curb ramp. Violations blocking the path of travel are subject to citation under Section 14.01.010 of the act.
In addition, the sale of food from mobile facilities like street carts must comply with Orange County Health requirements. Typically, the sale of any cooked or prepared food requires a permit from the County. See this link for information.
Sidewalk vendors with questions or residents with complaints should contact PublicWorks@cityofmissionviejo.org or call 949-470-3056.

It’s time for MV to require a city permit for street vendors with stipulations on quality and cleanliness. I personally would not buy from a street vendor but wouldn’t want any citizen to be compromised by one.

There is a new street vendor…
There is a new street vendor on Marguerite and Claro. The citiy needs to clean that up. If he's illegally here can we call immigration ? Seems like the City of Mission Viejo is, once again, impotent or doesn't care about non-violent crime.
