If you have a passion for all things roses, then make plans for the Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain’s next meeting on Monday, September 11.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Santa Margarita Water District, 26111 Antonio Parkway. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Karen Lynn, a member of the North American Ohara Teachers Association, will discuss Ikebana, the traditional floral art of Japan. Ikebana has been practiced for more than 600 years and developed from the Buddhist ritual of offering flowers to the spirits of the dead. What distinguishes Ikebana from simpler decorative approaches is its asymmetrical form and use of empty space.

The public is invited to learn about this expressive form of floral display.
