Stunning art exhibits in Mission Viejo this fall

art exhibit

If you're looking for some creative inspiration this fall, head to the Mission Viejo Library, Norman P. Murray Center and Potocki Center for the Arts to view beautiful exhibits by local artisans.

The current exhibit at the Mission Viejo Library features paintings by members of the Saddleback Art League - Carolyn Parsons and Jim Prothero.

Parsons' work reflects her love of the outdoors, as seen in her plein-air landscapes of the Santa Ana mountains and intimate studies of bromeliads - a flowering tropical plant that she grows.

Prothero's watercolors range from portraits to landscapes inspired by his travels throughout California and the Southwest, taking the viewer on a journey through time and place as well as joy and sorrow.

Parsons' and Prothero's paintings are on display through September 30. The Mission Viejo Library is located at 100 Civic Center.

Meanwhile, local arts advocate and educator Marillyn Brame is showcasing her students' work with an exhibit at the Norman P. Murray Center. Brame has served for many years on the Mission Viejo Cultural Arts Committee and has long championed community involvement in the arts. This exhibit features a variety of media and styles, ranging from oil paintings of outer space to portraits of ballet dancers rendered in colored pencil.

This exhibit runs from September 12 to October 28. The Norman P. Murray Center is located at 24932 Veterans Way.

The Potocki Center for the Arts will also feature a vibrant exhibit of nature photography by Ron Cohan. A longtime resident of Dana Point, Cohan's inspiration stems from the stunning natural beauty that surrounds Southern California. He often turns his camera to the skies over Dana Point Harbor, capturing its various moods at different times of day.

This exhibit runs September 19 through October 30. The Potocki Center for the Arts is located at 27301 La Paz Road.
