Public invited to Veterans Day observance Nov. 11
The City of Mission Viejo’s annual Veterans Day observance takes place Friday, November 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center.
The annual observance begins at 2 pm and includes military keynote speaker Colonel Matthew D. Lundgren, Commanding Officer of Headquarter Battalion, First Marine Division, and guest speaker retired Army veteran Juan A. Garcia of U.S. Vets “Outside the Wire.†The event will also boast a live vocal performance of patriotic songs; presentation of colors by the Marine Color Guard as well as a three-volley rifle salute and taps.
Patrons can enjoy an outdoor dessert and beverage reception after the ceremony that includes the “War Comes Home Exhibit: The Legacy of the Homecoming.†This touring exhibit is designed to promote a greater understanding of our veterans and explores the impact of war on our communities throughout the generations. South Orange County American Legion Post 281 will host a POW/MIA table in honor and remembrance of prisoners of war and missing comrades.
