Don’t miss free screening of perennial holiday favorite Dec. 18

Get into the holiday spirit by enjoying a free screening of the classic film “Miracle on 34th Street,” as part of the Community of Character Committee’s monthly movies of character. 

The film begins at 1:15 pm on Sunday, December 18 in the City Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.  

“Miracle on 34th Street” is a 1947 Christmas comedy-drama film that stars Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, Natalie Wood, and Edmund Gwenn. The story takes place in New York City during the holidays and focuses on the impact of a department store Santa Claus who claims to be the real St. Nick. The film has become a perennial Christmas favorite.

“Miracle on 34th Street” won three Academy Awards. In 2005, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant." The Academy Film Archive preserved “Miracle on 34th Street” in 2009.
