The City Council on Tuesday, April 23 will consider additional aspects of the Performing Arts Theater Feasibility Study and an amendment to Mission Viejo's Senior Mobility Program, among other business.

The business portion of the meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

As an additional part of the Performing Arts Theater Feasibility Study that was discussed at the March 26 Council Meeting, the City Council will consider a project to explore funding opportunities for such a facility. Residents were asked last year to provide input about what types of events they want in Mission Viejo and how a new space could serve the community's preferences for live entertainment. The results of that study revealed strong support for performing arts in Mission Viejo.

Council Members will also consider an amendment to extend the City's Senior Mobility Program, which provides an economical "curb-to-curb" taxi service to Mission Viejo riders that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During the presentation portion of the meeting, the Council will proclaim April as Community College Awareness Month. The South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) is one of the largest community college districts in the region, serving more than 50,000 students on three campuses including Saddleback College. SOCCCD is a leader in higher education and enriches lives in Orange County through learning, and SOCCCD students add approximately $1.9 billion in income to the Orange County economy and an overall $7.1 billion impact to the community.

Council meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
