The City Council on Tuesday received an update on a Mission Hospital project and recognized the accomplishment of a local teen.

During the presentation portion of the meeting, Providence Mission Hospital Chief Executive Seth Teigen on Tuesday gave the City Council an update about the Tower 3 project at the campus and detailed the improvements planned to the facility over the coming years.

The Council also recognized Amber Duke for the distinction of being selected as 2024 Miss Teen United States. Amber plans to use the platform of her position for community service and support the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

In addition, Mission Viejo Chief of Police Services Captain Jason Ivins provided information about a countywide Active Shooter Exercise that was held at Saddleback College. Active shooter incidents across the country have underscored the need for a coordinated response by law enforcement and other first responders to save lives. Captain Ivins shared photos of the exercise and spoke of how essential these multi-agency training sessions are to public safety efforts.

The City Council normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Council meetings are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
