Creative & fun workshops at Potocki Center for the Arts planned during Arts Alive Festival April 28-29
While enjoying the cornucopia of activities planned for this year’s Arts Alive & Street Painting Festival April 28-29 at the Norman P. Murray Center, be sure to check out the creative events taking place at the Potocki Center for the Arts, just up the street.

What Colors Are Your Emotions Workshop – April 28, 2 to 4 p.m. FREE
Learn how to process your emotions abstractly using color and paint on canvas. You’ll unleash your creativity through a guided artistic journey and take home a work of art. No art experience is necessary. Sign-up in advance by calling 949-470-8470.
Weaving for Wellness – April 28-29, noon to 5 p.m.
Learn the art of basket weaving using native plants used by the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians. Master weaver Jacque Nunez will explain the techniques for creating a basket and the health benefits of weaving. Cost is a $5 materials fee payable to the instructor for this make-and-take project.
The Art of Journaling and Bookmaking Workshop – April 28-29, 1 p.m.
Learn the basics of bookbinding and then create a unique accordion book or journal. This workshop opens your creativity to a world of unlimited possibilities in journaling. Fairy Garden Workshop – April 28, 1 p.m.
Add some magic in your home or garden by making your own fairy/gnome garden or fairy door. In this fun workshop (open to kids age 5 and older), you will use found and natural materials to make the perfect fairy hideaway or personalized fairy door. Parents and guardians are encouraged to work with their kids to create their masterpiece. Cost is $10 for the workshop plus $5 for an additional fairy piece.
History of Street Painting Demonstration with Maribeth McFaul April 28 & 29 – 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.
Keeping in step with the dynamic street painting component that makes Arts Alive shine, artist Maribeth McFaul will give a demonstration and talk about the history of this popular art medium.
