Relay For Life of South Orange County takes place on June 9-10

Relay for life

The countdown is underway until Relay For Life of South Orange County takes step June 9-10 at Oso Viejo Community Park.

Individuals and teams are still sought to take part in this fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs. During Relay For Life, team members will take turns walking or running laps. At nightfall, hundreds of luminaries are lit in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle to the disease. The event runs from 9 a.m. Saturday, June 9 to 9 a.m. the following day.

Along with building camaraderie, this year’s Relay will feature local music bands; dance groups; games and activities for children, teens and adults; a kid’s camp area; silent auction; fundraisers; and food for purchase.  The communities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Ladera Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita and San Juan Capistrano have joined forces to host this special event.

Teams can register online or sign up on Saturday, June 9. Cancer survivors are sought for a special ceremony in their honor and will be treated to breakfast at 10 a.m.  Oso Viejo Park is located at 24932 Veterans Way.
