old school

The countdown is underway to the best 80s party of the century in Mission Viejo! The City is gearing up for its annual Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park event on Saturday, July 28.

Boasting a 1980s theme in celebration of the City of Mission Viejo’s 30th anniversary, this totally tubular event is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Oso Viejo Community Park on the Village Green, 24932 Veterans Way.

With music under the stars and all things 80s, concertgoers will mingle with the likes of Michael Jackson and Prince while enjoying 10 old-school family games including Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Galaga. A selfie photo booth, Shrinky Dinks craft and DJ Mad Platter pumping out gnarly tunes while hosting family activities and fun contests will complement that decade’s vibe.

Featuring a Musical Playground, the Prelude in the Park is from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. with the Pacific Symphony concert kicking off with a dance party at 7 p.m.

Beer and wine and tasty fare will be available for purchase from gourmet food trucks Cousins Maine Lobster, Maiz Cocina, OC Snow, StickABerry and Burning Buns.

Free admission and shuttle rides from the Civic Center.
