CIF-sanctioned Girls' Junior Tennis Classic takes swing in Mission Viejo Oct. 18-20

Tennis enthusiasts from across Southern California will flock to the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion October 18-20 for the second annual Girls' Junior Tennis Classic - The Marguerite, a CIF-sanctioned event.

The Marguerite will feature the top 32 singles and 32 doubles entries from Southern, San Diego, Los Angeles and Central CIF sections. The players are ages 14-19, and each section is guaranteed placements in the draw. Selections are based on high school dual-match results, UTR and SCTA rankings.

The Southern California junior tennis competition is considered the best in the nation, and several players participating in the Marguerite will go on to play for the best college tennis programs in the country.

"Some players will likely end up playing on the professional tennis tour "¦ you can come see tomorrow's future NCAA champions today," said City tennis pro Dave Borelli.

Admission is free. Play begins at 3 p.m. October 18 and at 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
