Don't miss 'The Blind Side' in Mission Viejo Jan. 20
If you want to see a film that will make you laugh, cry and inspire you, don't miss the screening of "The Blind Side" as part of the Community of Character Committee's monthly free movie event on Sunday, January 20.
"The Blind Side" is a 2009 biographical sports drama about Michael Oher, who rose from an impoverished childhood in Memphis, Tennessee to become a first-round NFL pick for the Baltimore Ravens. The film demonstrates this month's character trait of "perseverance."
The movie received critical acclaim and an Academy Award Best Picture nomination. Sandra Bullock won Best Actress for her portrayal as Leigh Anne Touhy, Michael Oher's adoptive mother. Tim McGraw and Kathy Bates also gave stellar performances.
Michael Oher gave the movie the thumbs up and was later quoted thanking his adoptive family for guiding his life.
The PG13-rated film, which begins at 2 p.m., will be shown on a theater-sized screen with theater-style seating and surround-sound in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
After the film presentation, retired history teacher Bob Bayes will talk about its theme and character trait.
