New Pet Pantry program delivers food, supplies and hope

man with car full of pet donations

A new Pet Pantry program being piloted by the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center offers to deliver free pet food and supplies to residents in need.  The aim is that by proactively aiding such pet owners, they may be better equipped to keep and care for their beloved pets instead of resorting to relinquishment or abandonment.

The first Pet Pantry delivery was to OC Animal Care, which just last week accepted over 140 dogs from a single home.  OC Animal Care staff were very appreciative to receive a car full of towels, blankets and pet food.

The Pet Pantry is dependent upon the generosity of local residents.  Bags and cans of dog or cat food may be donated to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center at 28095 Hillcrest during standard business hours.  Unopened bags are preferred.

Visit the Center's website for a wish list of donation items, and for more information call 949-470-3045.

Recently my 19 year old cat passed away. I have quite a bit of unopened canned cat food that I would like to donate to another cat(s) on behalf of my Mia.

I also have some open bags of kibble and treats that are virtually brand new.

Would you have any interest in these items if I dropped them off?

Thank you
Mary Cranford
