Longtime Volunteer Coordinator is Mission Viejo's 2019 Employee of the Year
Giselle Leal-Pelayo, a longtime Volunteer Coordinator, has been named Mission Viejo's 2019 Employee of the Year.
A 13-year employee of the City, Giselle is known for her outstanding work ethic, dedication and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Giselle plans, oversees and coordinates the robust volunteer program at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center. She is credited for her hard work, creativity and can-do attitude.
"Giselle's ability to manage her daily duties has been a great asset to the organization and her deftness has freed Giselle up to take on coordinating center events, social media as well outreach materials and publications," said Animal Services Manager Michelle Claud-Clemente. This requires a great deal of detailed work and logistics. Giselle manages it all well while excelling in her day-to-day duties."
In fact, this year alone, Giselle recreated the entire volunteer program, so it provides more opportunities for the public while taking on new assignments. Giselle implemented a new Movie with Mutts program and coordinated the "Buns of Steal" bunny adoption event, among many others.
"Giselle is kind, professional and extremely organized "¦ her ability to manage multiple assignments makes her an asset to the department as well as the City and its residents," Michelle said.

What a well deserved honor! I am so glad that Michelle saw the huge value that Giselle brings to the animal shelter. As a long-time volunteer at the shelter, I have been through a few volunteer coordinators, and Giselle excels in that position. Congratulations Giselle!
