Rawlins trio

Mark your calendar for Friday, February 28 at 7 pm when the Rawlins Piano Trio takes center stage at the Norman P. Murray Center.

A dynamic group of performers, teachers and scholars, the Rawlins Piano Trio distinguishes itself in arts outreach, masterclasses and performances.

The group has performed at prestigious venues including the Sejong Chamber Hall (Seoul, South Korea); Chiang-Kai-Shek Cultural Center (Kaohsiung, Taiwan); Teatro de Anita Villalaz for the Fundación Sinfonía Concertante de Panama; and national conferences of the College Music Society and Chamber Music America.

The trio’s diverse repertoire ranges from standard works to new and undiscovered pieces the public will embrace. With expertise as a preeminent interpreter of American music, the ensemble has recorded five CDs.

The members of the trio are on the faculty of the University of South Dakota Department of Music. As enthusiastic teachers, outreach is a vital component of their touring schedule throughout the country and abroad. The ensemble is named in honor of the late Marjorie and Robert Rawlins, the principal benefactors and graduates of the University of South Dakota in the 1940s.

Tickets are $20 and are available at the door. For more information, call 949-470-8440.
