Oso Parkway Bridge lanes now open

oso parkway bridge

All six lanes - three in each direction - of Oso Parkway at the 241 Toll Road are open to drivers, marking a construction milestone for the Oso Parkway Bridge Project.

Project construction began in August 2018 and is expected to be finished in October. Remaining construction activities include final preparations of on- and off-ramps, overhead signs, grading slopes, completing draining, relocating utilities and miscellaneous electrical work.  Intermittent daytime lane closures may be necessary over the next few weeks.

The Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency (F/ETCA) is funding the nearly $40 million project. Orange County Public Works, in partnership with Caltrans, is overseeing the construction contract led by Ortiz Enterprises.

The Oso/Antonio intersection has been under construction for awhile. It seems the westbound Oso lane coming from Coto de Caza towards MV is being reduced to 2 lanes at the Antonio intersection. This is causing huge traffic backups already since this used to have 3 lanes here. Can you tell me if this will be 2 lanes and if so, why it was changed?
Thank you,
Don

Per OC Public Works website: The future bridge will contain six lanes (three in each direction), dedicated bike lanes and sidewalks. Pedestrian access to Tesoro High School will be improved with the construction of a new sidewalk on the south side of Oso Parkway. OC Public Works will oversee construction of the two-year project.
