Mission Viejo resident wins naming rights to City golf course

Just saying - I think my submission was way more original than Oso Creek Golf Course! Seems to me we have more than enough references to Oso Creek here in MV.

Umm...I believe I had submitted that exact same name. Why didn’t I win the contest?

I think reference to the lake would be more suitable since it is right beside the golf course.. well anyway congrats to the winner and runner ups.. maybe time to do a logo contest?

Per the contest rules: "If more than one person submits a name that is chosen as a finalist, only the FIRST person who submitted the name (based on the electronic time stamp from the submission) will be included as a finalist to receive a prize."

I’m just curious if there was a reason the name was changed from Casa del Sol?

Oso Creek Golf Course is a bit of a stretch, being named after the trail. With so many befitting options: we have the beautiful Saddleback Mountain, we have the sparkling MV Lake.

Please commission metal Ball Markers with words Oso Creek and a Bear on one side and the Mission Viejo City logo on the other side. I for one will buy several and many others will too.

I submitted the name Oso Creeck Golf Club, along with two others, 2 or 3 days after the contest started! I'd like to see the date stamp on the submissions by myself and Don!

Congrats to the winner. I also submitted the name as it ties in the Creek trail and could open up access to Clubhouse from the trail.

For goodness sake folks, it's just a name.

Regarding the question on the name change... The City recently purchased the Golf Course and since the course is not associated with the neighboring Casta del Sol community, we felt it was appropriate to change the name. Many people thought the course was private and part of the CdS community when, in fact, it is a public course. We also sought a name that considered the course’s location, amenities, topography and other attributes of our community.

I had also submitted the name "Oso Creek Golf Course". How could only one person be the winner? Was there a drawing?

For all those saying that they submitted the same name as the winner: Didn't you read the rules before you entered?

Just want to say thank you for all your hard work and giving the community an opportunity to participate in choosing the name of our golf course. We are so appreciative that the golf course was preserved and we don't have to look at more condo's and/or office buildings.

Played the newly re-named Oso Creek Golf Course this morning Thursday 9-17 and was proud to be the first player to head out to the first tee in one of their beautiful new golf carts. Didn’t improve my score, but I certainly looked good in their new silver ride.
