Play it Safe as playgrounds reopen

playground

The City of Mission Viejo is in the process of reopening its playgrounds after the California Department of Public Health issued new directives for playground use.

In order to use the playgrounds, visitors must always comply with certain requirements such as wearing a mask (age 2 and older); maintaining physical distance; abstaining from bringing food or drinks; and planning your visits at the park to avoid crowds.

You can find the detailed information and requirements from the State at this link.

I am glad to see you are reopening the playgrounds. I think that as long as we are outside and not on top of each other, it is safe not to wear masks, as it is the case at trails, beaches and other public outdoor places. Can we have them be a voluntary thing as people might choose to wear it when others are indeed around (more necessary) than when alone or with their own group . Also, most moms do carry food and drink for their children, specially with the heat. I don't get why the prohibition to do so. How is that impacting Covid spread??

It is against the law to force people to wear masks in public spaces. Parents may say "I do not consent to wear a mask I and do not consent my child wear a mask". Please know your rights. We are not in a state of emergency!

Unfortunately parents have been taking their kids to plat at the playgrounds at the parks for months, with no face covering and no social distancing...even while the play structures were taped and marked as closed...

If we are not in a state of “emergency,” then what would you call it? And just because you have the “right” to do something doesn’t mean it’s the “right” thing to do. Please be aware you are not the only one in the universe. I know it’s a shock, but it’s true.
