City to perform maintenance work along a portion of Oso Creek as a first step toward the Core Area Vision Plan

oso creek

Working with an environmental biologist consultant, the City of Mission Viejo on November 29 will begin cleaning up a portion of Oso Creek between La Paz Road and the trail head at Marguerite Parkway.

The first phase of the project efforts, which will take about 30 days to complete, will focus on removing the invasive non-native vegetation that has over-populated the creek to leave it in its natural state with native plants.

This project along with the Santa Margarita Water District’s plan to build a state-of-the-art water treatment plant for Oso Creek to clean and treat the water are part of the community’s Core Area Vision Plan. Stay tuned for updates on the project by signing up for the City’s eNewsletter and following its official social media sites – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Nextdoor.

This trail means a lot to us we walk it about 4-5 times a week and we made walking buddies on OSO Creek trail.
Thank you for cleaning it up and keeping it open for all of us to enjoy
Merry Christmas

Thank you for your comment on the City’s News page regarding potential closure of this section of the trail. Portions may be closed intermittently for short periods during the work day through the end of the 30-day project, but will be opened at the end of each business day.
