Residents encouraged to attend second Public Forum on sober living and recovery homes Aug. 3

city seal

On the heels of a public forum regarding sober living and recovery homes in May, the City of Mission Viejo will host a second community forum on Wednesday, August 3 to further explore public policy reform opportunities.

The public forum is from 6-7:30 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

The meeting will again include a panel of experts who formed a working group of policymakers to ascertain additional solutions that might be feasible in the City of Mission Viejo. During the May meeting, the panel offered insights into the parameters established by federal and state laws and regulations and potential opportunities for the City to broaden its enforcement efforts on behalf of residents and businesses affected by the challenges often created by sober living and recovery homes.

The main focus of the forum will be to receive additional public testimony for the record to inform the policy-making process further and raise greater awareness amongst legislators in Sacramento of the challenges our communities face daily with sober living and recovery homes.

Residents are encouraged to attend and share their views with the panel. For more information, contact cityadmin@cityofmissionviejo.org or 949-470-3051.

I am opposed to having sober living homes in the City of Mission Viejo.
I once worked with alcoholics and recovering drug addicts, they do not stay sober long. When they leave the recovery homes they immediately look for drugs or alcohol, and they steal in order to get a fix. Let's keep them out of our communities.

I would hate to say "no sober living places in MV" but I think they should be limited and closely monitored.
