council chamber

The City Council on Tuesday, September 13 will recognize outstanding members of the City's adopted troops and receive updates about an E-bike Safety Plan as well as an enhanced recreation center, among other business.

For their outstanding efforts on behalf of the City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Lance Corporal Darren Villanueva will be feted as “Marine of the Quarter” and Corporal Lorenzo Garcia as the “Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter.”

Chief of Police Services Chris McDonald will give a presentation about an E-bike Safety Plan and Director of Recreation and Community Services Mark Nix will talk about the exciting and much-needed improvements at the Montanoso Recreation Center.

Since September is Hunger Action Month, John Ralls, a Board Member of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, will discuss the needs of countless families throughout the region and how folks can help.

Along with presentations, Council members will also consider replacing the old heaters in the dog kennels ahead of winter at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center to ensure the homeless dogs stay warm.

The public portion of the Council’s September 13 meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Presentations begin shortly after 6 pm, followed by the public comment portion of the meeting and the consent calendar.

Council meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Can the intersection at Jeronimo & Alicia PLEASE be safer & discussed??? This is our home & where we need to feel safest. How many more accidents need to happen in the exact same intersection? I pray for those in the most recent accident that critically injured some. Please find a way to break the pattern of this intersection being so unsafe.

The left turn signal from Alicia turning onto jeronimo towards los Alisos is definitely a hazard! I have seen many people “run” this light because the signal is not working properly! This is a very busy intersection and this should be fixed immediately before another accident occurs because if it. Please check up on this light ASAP.

Thank you for your comment on the City's News page. The Public Works Department reported that the green left turn arrow on the overhead mast arm for eastbound Alicia Parkway was out on Wednesday, September 14, and the City received confirmation that evening that the issue had been repaired. The Public Works team has been monitoring this location and the signal appears to be cycling normally.
