EV Charging Stations to benefit our environment, support for the Iranian-American community and more on Oct. 25 City Council agenda

council chamber

The City Council on Tuesday, October 25 will consider awarding a contract to purchase and build EV charging stations at the Civic Center -- as part of an effort to accommodate and promote the use of electric vehicles, which reduce harmful emissions and benefit the environment.

The proposed EV charging stations consist of two single and double charging stations that will allow up to six electric vehicles to charge simultaneously using dedicated parking stalls. The EV charging stations are funded through two grants and will be in the Civic Center parking lot on the east side toward Marguerite Parkway next to the utility enclosure. Construction of the EV charging station begins in January 2023 and will be operational next spring.

In other Council business on Tuesday, Council Members will present certificates to the outstanding recipients who were honored at the recent Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce Women in Business event. To support the Iranian-American community and condemn the violence perpetrated by the government of Iran against its people, the Council will also endorse a City proclamation. In addition, November 26 will be proclaimed as "Small Business Saturday" in Mission Viejo to encourage residents to support our local businesses.

The business portion of the City Council meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 Civic Center, and the public is encouraged to attend. Council meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.

Don't Waste Money on EV Chargers even if funded by a Grant - Taxpayers. I have owned 3 EVs. My Current EV, a Hyundai Kona has a Range of 334 Miles AND TAKES 9 HOURS for A FULL CHARGE. Go down to the Shops at Mission Viejo. They have 10 Tesla Superchargers and 10 Overflow Spots - The Que - for people waiting for an open charger. There are always cars in the Que. Do You really want people to sit or sleep in their EVs at the Civic Center? Even the Fastest Supercharger for Teslas takes about an Hour. Email me if you want to learn more about Charging. As I said I'm on my 3rd EV. I know a few things about Chargers and Charging.
