In Mission Viejo’s first district-based election, all five seats were up for four-year terms.

When will the City issue a press release on the Court of Appeal's ruling on the Stay?

Appellants' and respondents' requests for judicial notice are GRANTED. The stay order previously issued by this court is DISSOLVED. The petition for writ of supersedeas is DENIED.

what should already be abundantly clear is that some people ARE above the law. thumb your nose. pretend there's nothing to see here. and just do whatever you want.

UNofficial is right! please google "ca election results". republicans are NOT leasing in every category. in fact, the opposite is true. this is, even for mission viejo standards, the biggest lies i''ve ever seen by a "non partisan" group of people!

According to today's Orange County Register, "A state appeals court has said it will no longer delay a judge's decision removing three Mission Viejo council members from their seats for unlawfully holding office beyond the terms to which they were elected. But an appeal may still be considered, MIssion Viejo Attorney Bill Curley said."

When is the City of Mission Viejo going to stop wasting my money on fighting a losing battle to keep people who are willing to commit fraud in office?

Attorney Curley has lost on every front. It's long past time for the City to cut its losses and find more competent counsel.

And to Greg Raths' defense that he only followed the advice of the City Attorney and City Manager to stay in office, I say, time to sharpen your critical thinking skills. If someone tells you something that sounds too good to be true, it probably it. Also, ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it.

The above comments are the real truth.

Cheers to all the people that voted for change- and for those that didn’t vote .. what a shame …. Allowing law breaking folks to continue to sit in their seats is just despicable.

Voting in local elections is the best chance we have to make our vote count!

Wasting our money indeed! I resent that MV taxpayers are footing the bill to defend council members against self-inflicted lawsuits which could have been avoided by not illegally extending their own terms in office! I resent that council members illegally in office had city resources, including campaign contributions from city vendors, at their disposal to promote their candidacies! I resent that council members slow-walked the implementation of district voting until some of their terms expired after which they appeared to possess a we-alone-can-fix-it attitude by voting to extend their terms without a city wide election! This is not OK by Judge Schwarm or the state Court of Appeals nor I would imagine by the citizenry strapped with paying mounting legal fees in defense of their inexcusable behavior!
Slick flyers that arrived in my mailbox prior to last week's election touted MV's safety ranking. Seventh safest city in America! one announced. These mailers also referenced MV's Quality of Life. What this campaign "literature" fails to address is that no city is safe from council members who choose to short circuit the democratic process by cutting voters out of the equation and essentially high-jacking our voice! Preserving our Quality of Life in this manner is too steep a price to pay. It's time to man-up and tell the public the truth!

Good Morning, Kimberly. I am not sure who to address this to.

Why is "Access Denied" to the November 10, 2022 city blog post entitled “Mission Viejo’s unofficial election results"?

I was able to open ALL of the other links from October 27 through November 9, 2022.

I hope the article is not being censored due to content posted by the public. That content is announcing, along with public opinion, the immediate removal of the defendant council members Sachs, Bucknum and Raths from their council seats.

I look forward to an explanation - Thank you, cathy

Has the city attorney resigned?

Where is the press release informing the residents that Council defendants Sachs, Raths and Bucknum have been removed from their elected office by Court order?

The city attorney had been very quick to attack citizens who challenged the unlawful actions of the council. The citizens of Mission Viejo deserve not only an apology but at the very least an official statement informing our residents that the Court of Appeal has dissolved the Stay and that immediately on November 11, 2022, Council Members Sachs, Raths and Bucknum were removed from office.

Where is the transparency?

The good news is we are rid of two of them . The bad news is we’ve backfilled with one more of the same. But at least one new face!
My personal opinion is we should recall the third one., as her actions should have disqualified her from running. Her cheering section should all move to Florida! Or Texas….
