New Land Management system will modernize the City's building and permitting services

The City will transition to a new land management software system on September 12 that will modernize and enhance the quality of the City's building and permitting services.

When launched, the new system will offer convenient online options that reduce the need to visit the permit counter in-person. Using a new self-service web portal, you'll be able to apply for permits, submit plans, pay fees, schedule inspections, and check the status of applications online. Furthermore, a streamlined solar permit application process will enable you to obtain a solar permit instantly after supplying the necessary information.

As at many other agencies that have completed the difficult but necessary transition to a modern land management system, the City's building permit counter will be temporarily impacted by a service closure to allow the City to coordinate final validation and launch preparations. In support of this transition, the City's building permit counter will operate in a limited capacity as follows:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 5 and Thursday, Sept. 7, open 8 am - noon for emergency submittals and new solar applications only, reduced daily inspections
  • Friday, Sept. 8 and Monday, Sept. 11, CLOSED

Public Works and Planning will maintain regular counter/permit services and hours during the transition.

City staff will work during the closure days and through the weekend to ensure that the permit counter is ready to reopen for business on Tuesday, September 12 when the new system is launched. To streamline the permitting process, the City will only accept electronic submission of new applications and supporting attachments. Applications started before September 12 will be allowed paper submissions by visiting the permit counter in-person.

Please note that wait times may initially be higher than normal while staff adapts to the new system and while any backlog of applications is processed. We greatly appreciate your patience during the transition period and look forward to offering an even higher quality of building and permitting services into the future.
