The City of Mission Viejo will host an open house and walking tour to seek final input from the community about the LOS OSOS Core Area project on Wednesday, October 11 from 4:30 to 6 pm at the North Paseo, 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

The public is invited to view exhibits, give input on the project and enjoy a walking tour with City staff. Folks can also take part in pumpkin painting with the Mission Viejo Cultural Arts Committee and artist Jack Knight starting at 3 pm.

At the October 24 City Council meeting, City staff will summarize community input from the six previous meetings, present the phased cost estimate and make a recommendation to the City Council for the first phase of development to move the LOS OSOS project forward. The meeting begins at 6 pm in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Council meetings are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

What is the City doing to ensure adequate e-vehicle fast charging in the core area? I don't believe there is a single fast charger in all of "core" Mission Viejo. My wife happily drives to RSM and other nearby cities to fast charge and shop. The other cities get all the tax revenue spent in those stores and restaurants. This is a major commercial and competitive advantage. Let's keep this business and revenue in our city, We need a convenient spot to charge while people can shop the stores, walk the new trails and paths or enjoy the weekend/night markets.

Why do you feel it is the city's responsibility to provide you with charging stations? You chose to buy an electrical vehicle, it is "your" responsibility. Did any governmental agency build gas stations for fossil fuel vehicles? Typical comment from an entitled resident!

After several years of encouragement and support it is my opinion at this point that the City needs to halt all forward progress on the entirety of the Los Osos Core Vision Plan until such time as the City has reached an understanding with the totality of the existing commercial property owners in the study area (MISSION VIEJO Core Area Vision Plan page 10, CORE VISION PLAN District Boundary) regarding their participation.
Additionally, I believe it is imperative that the residential property owners bounded by Chrisanta Drive, railroad R.O.W., Jeronimo Road, Veterans Way and Oso Parkway receive the same degree of participation in future planning decisions as has been given over to the commercial property owners as described in paragraph above.
And finally, The City must produce the Specific Plan for the entirety of the area described above as ‘suggested’ in the City of Mission Viejo, “Mission Viejo Village Center” Final Report ULI Orange County Technical Advisory Panel April 24th-25th 2007 (page 19, “Depending on the outcomes of the short-term initiatives, key long-term strategies should be considered:” second paragraph), in the Core Area Vision Plan, (page 1, Executive Summery, About the Vision Plan, first paragraph, page 1, Plan for a Vision, second paragraph, page 179, Implementation, Land Use Regulatory Context) and City of Mission Viejo General Plan Land Use Element.
