Volunteers sought for Orange County's Point in Time Homeless Count
The City of Mission Viejo is joining other South County cities in encouraging residents to volunteer for Orange County's Point in Time (PIT) Homeless Count and Survey on Thursday, January 25.
The biennial Point in Time homeless count will provide updated numbers and demographics on the homeless population to help guide government response to the growing issue.
Residents can volunteer to work as team captains, field surveyors, photographers and videographers and provide deployment center support. Folks can also donate hygiene kits that will be distributed during the census and financial donations.
Registration is now open to volunteer within the South County Service Planning Area (SPA). On-site South County training is January 10, which is the best option for new volunteers, and will be held from noon to 2 pm at the El Toro Library, 24672 Raymond Way, Lake Forest. Virtual training sessions are also available on January 16 and 17, and additional info may be found at the Volunteer Training Opportunities page.
