Dog found tied to a tree has been adopted into her forever home

angel with family

Just 24 hours after Angel's story aired on KNBC Channel 4 and went viral via the City's social media, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center experienced a surge in adoption applications for this sweet Siberian husky-German shepherd mix that was rescued with her puppies after being tied to a tree. Numerous applications flooded in from near and far including a heartfelt one from a lovely family in Murrieta, California. Their story aired just last night on KNBC 4.

Having faced the loss of multiple family pets this year, the family members believed Angel would be their beacon of hope. This sweet young pup found her forever home with the caring family, residing on a spacious property, surrounded by love for the rest of her days. Thanks to the support of countless people and the dedicated efforts of the center's nonprofit DAWG, Angel and her seven adorable puppies were rescued and embraced by loving families.

Thank you for your comment on the News page and interest in these puppies. When the puppies and their mom, Angel, were found, the first thing Mission Viejo Animal Services (MVAS) did was to make sure that all of the pups were old enough to be on their own without needing to nurse off of their mother. Each pup was given puppy “gruel” and each were readily eating it on their own, so MVAS knew it was safe to separate them from their mom. It is common practice to separate puppies from their mom at 6-8 weeks of age, the age at which the pups were found. If MVAS had any indication that the pups would not thrive without their mom, they all would have been kept together until they were old enough to separate. The pups all went into foster homes for a few weeks to receive extra love and caring until they were old enough to adopt. If you would like to learn more about becoming a foster parent for the orphaned puppies and kittens with MVAS, please visit cmvas.org.

Thank you for sharing this happy news about Angel, and especially to all those that helped this little fur family find their forever homes. You all are fantastic!

Thank you for adopting Angel!! I don't know why this person didn't just bring the dog and her puppies to a shelter instead of keeping her tied to a tree. This makes me happy that she was saved as well as her puppies on time. :)
