Mission Viejo Animal Services rescued dogs from a Riverside-based hoarder who kept 113 dogs in a two-bedroom townhome
Seven dogs - that were among more than 100 small dogs - rescued from a hoarder in Riverside are now at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and will soon be available for adoption.
On Thursday, Mission Viejo Animal Services was contacted by the Riverside Animal Shelter Rescue Department pleading for assistance after impounding 113 small dogs from a hoarder. The dogs lived in a two-bedroom townhome and were discovered after a fire started in the home.
Through the center's "A Mission for Home" program, our staff rescued seven dogs. They will be available for adoption after being bathed, evaluated by a veterinarian, and spay/neutered. All surgeries including dentals on the older dogs will be paid for by the center's nonprofit DAWG.
Funded exclusively through DAWG, the "A Mission for Home" program helps animals and shelters alike. It helps other shelters reduce their numbers; the animals get a chance to find great homes; and local families have more animals to choose from when they're ready to adopt a furry family member. Since the program's inception in 2000, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center has rescued thousands of pets.
