Nonprofit organization is seeking volunteers to help benefit City programs, services and parks on Oct. 12

Group planting project

A nonprofit organization is hosting a special event on October 12 that is designed to benefit City programs and services as well as help beautify public spaces and parks.

The inaugural “Love Mission Viejo” Citywide Serve Day on October 12 invites residents to volunteer for a range of projects across the community from 9 am to noon. The day begins with an 8 am rally at Newhart Middle School before volunteers embark on different projects that include things like planting along the Oso Creek Trail, painting at the ballfields and creating care packages for Mission Viejo’s senior program and the City’s active military, among other efforts.

The City of Mission Viejo is not a host or sponsor of this volunteer-driven event but is supporting community partners such as the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce to help to spread the word.

You can learn more about the volunteer effort and get involved at lovemissionviejo.org.
