Mission Viejo Commissioners feted for excellence

Grant Voss and Ron Ruef

Kudos to current and former Mission Viejo Community Services Commissioners Grant Voss and Ron Ruef for winning prestigious awards this week during the annual California Association of Park & Recreation Commissioners & Board Members (CAPRCBM) annual banquet.

Grant, who has served on the City's Community Services Commission since 2015, was recognized as an Outstanding Commissioner of the Year for his tireless efforts to benefit people in our community. With his brother Tyler, Grant launched the Mission Viejo Film Festival in 2016 to support local youth in filmmaking while also raising money for charity. He is also busy working with different City departments on other fun and unique activities to educate and engage our youth.

Ron Ruef, who served two 6-year terms on our City commission, took home the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award, the first ever bestowed by the CAPRCBM. He serves as a mentor, counselor, guide and leader in the CAPRCBM. Ron has held the roles of treasurer and president of the statewide association. Right now, he serves as executive director at Pacific Water Quality Association.  In his free time, he referees local youth soccer teams and enjoys time with his wife Janice and two sons.  Anyone fortunate to cross paths with Ron knows he's a great guy and most deserving of this award.

The City of Mission Viejo is grateful for the vast contributions of Ron and Grant and congratulates them on their esteemed awards.
