Mission Viejo's Heritage House open this Saturday

heritage house

The public is invited to embrace our storied history this Saturday, May 12 during a special Heritage House event at Melinda Park.

The Heritage House "Open House" is from 1-3 p.m. at 28951 Melinda Road.

The Open House will give folks the chance to celebrate the City of Mission Viejo's 30th anniversary of incorporation by learning about its colorful history - including the first home built in 1966.

Along with learning about our roots, guests will enjoy seeing an award-winning artist share her talents. Joyce Pelaka paints "en plein air" or "in the open," a term first used by the French impressionists.  She frequently travels to capture fresh subject matter while participating in some of the most respected art festivals.  Traveling to France gave her an opportunity to paint in the garden of impressionist Claude Monet - an artistic experience of a lifetime. Her oil paintings evoke moods and capture a fleeting moment on canvas.

People of all ages are welcome to stop by and share in the history and heritage of our community. Reservations are not necessary and free parking is available. The Heritage House is located on the corner of Melinda Road and Santa Margarita Parkway.

Was hoping the "history" went earlier. Samosa, Estudillo, Forester etc., the land changing hands in the mid-1800s?
