City will offer two new senior wellness programs in 2019
With UnitedHealthcare dropping the SilverSneakers benefits program in 2019, the City of Mission Viejo has worked diligently to add two new wellness programs so seniors can continue to enjoy essential free and low-cost access to our Recreation Centers.
Starting in January, UnitedHealthcare will offer Renew Active or AARP Medicare Supplement Program benefits to seniors. To ensure existing members continue to reap the rewards of active lifestyles, the City of Mission Viejo will honor these programs at its Recreation Centers. Members enrolling in Renew Access who show proof of enrollment will enjoy continued free membership.
For existing wellness members who re-enroll in the AARP Medicare Supplement Program and provide eligibility by June 30, 2019, the City will waive all monthly costs of their wellness membership. To boot, anyone who registers for an AARP membership beginning July 1 will receive a 50% discount on monthly Recreation Center membership fees.
“The City continues to make active aging a priority and will continue to be responsive and innovative in finding cost-effective ways to promote the well-being of our aging community,” said Recreation and Community Services Manager Lydie Gutfeld.

The city offers so ma y great programs for all ages and athletic abilities. The remodel of the Marguerite Aquatic Complex provides an opportunity to utilize the facility for all ages and stages of life for swim and dive. I disagree with a comment made earlier that not enough is done for other programs. There are many many programs offered by the city for all interest groups. It is probably one of the most culturally diverse program offerings any where! Great job City council, you have done so much to make MV great!!
