Shred your sensitive documents for free Sept. 15

shredded paper

Mission Viejo residents and businesses can destroy their sensitive documents during the free drive-through Document Shredding event on Saturday, September 15.

Hosted by Mission Viejo Police Services and the City, the event is from 8 a.m. to noon in the Mission Viejo High School parking lot at 25025 Chrisanta Drive.

Identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the nation, and shredding documents with personal or financial information can be an effective measure of prevention.

Residents and businesses can bring up to 10 legal-size boxes of paper records - cancelled checks, pay stubs, credit card statements and more - for immediate shredding by Orange County Shredding. Documents can contain staples and paper clips but must be free of notebooks or other bindings.

For more information, contact 949-470-8433 or crimeprevention@cityofmissionviejo.org.

Thanks for providing this service, unfortunately, we were not available for this event. When will the next one be?

Hi, Lake Forest has an ongoing process for residents to shred documents. Has MV looked into this option? I missed the one day and now have to wait another year. Ongoing would be great!

In 2019 the City of Mission Viejo is teaming with Waste Management and will have FOUR shred events. The first two dates have been scheduled:

February 2, 2019 – 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
April 6, 2019 – 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

As in the past, the shred events will take place at Mission Viejo High School in the parking lot.

The remaining two dates will be chosen in the coming months.
